For Your
Information
Region 1A Supports Healthcare for Michigan
It is no surprise that health care costs are skyrocketing and businesses cannot continue to pay these benefits if they want to compete in a global market. An astonishing 1 million people in Michigan do not have insurance.
This is why I am glad to announce that UAW Region 1A has partnered with Healthcare for Michigan. Healthcare for Michigan is an organization that is launching a ballot imitative campaign for the 2008 elections. The ballot would require the State Legislature to enact legislation that would control & reduces health care costs, ensure that people with health insurance won't lose it, and provide health insurance coverage for those without it.
I am asking for your help in collecting the 475,000 signatures needed to get this on the 2008 ballot. Click on the website www.healthcareformichigan.org or contact your local leadership for petitions. Petitions must be filled out correctly and completely with signer's printed name, signature, street address, zip code, and date. Important: please have people sign a petition that lists the county in which they live. Petitions must be returned no later than June 25, 2008. If you have any questions or need petitions, please contact Jim Pedersen at (313) 291-2750.
Thank you for assisting in this important campaign to help working families receive affordable healthcare in Michigan.
In solidarity,
Rory
